Covid support for business

With Covid-19 lockdowns once again wreaking havoc across the country, particularly in our eastern states, extensions to COVID Support have been announced in NSW and VIC by the Federal and State Governments.  

New South Wales

Job Saver Programme that opened on Monday is the new and improved Job Keeper programme from 2020.  –

  • Businesses with:
    • Annual sales between $75,000 to $250m
    • Who have experienced a decline of 30% or more
    • And maintain their employee headcount
    • May be eligible to receive between $1,500 to $100,000 per week
  • Payments will be based on 40% of their weekly payroll

NSW State Government has also expanded its COVD-19 Business Grant to cover the first 3 weeks of lockdown.

Victoria

News has been announced that a Business Support Package with funding split between Federal & State Government. This includes a new Small Business COVID Hardship Fund and a Business Continuity Fund.

Surprisingly, this also includes support for commercial tenants and landlords with the reintroduction of the Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme as well as Landlord Hardship which will be FULLY funded by the Victorian Government.

The Business Continuity Fund will deliver $5,000 grants to around 30,000 businesses that remain impacted by capacity limits, under public health restrictions which includes 24 eligible sectors such as gyms, cafes, restaurants, catering and hairdressers.
